The ghost of Beatrice has once again been banished to the underworld
it seems: "Zagat relays the fairly unsurprising news that Kenmare, the
downtown restaurant opened by Paul Sevigny and Nur Khan in the spring
of 2010, is now shuttered for good,” reported Eater.com. "They
launched with Joey Campanaro on board as chef and a serious amount of
buzz about that basement cave, but the restaurant lost their big gun
chef after a year, went through a string of replacements, and
eventually waned in popularity.” Those nails in the coffin, plus "the
universal drubbing from the city’s restaurant critics probably didn’t
help things.” However, it isn’t all grim: "The team hopes to keep the
lower level club space open for now and a new concept should launch in
the dining area soon.” Hm. Maybe Sevigny should just keep his night
job?
