Seems like the new Baz Luhrmann remake of "The Great Gatsby” will
employ some wizardry of Oz. Alongside, British actress Carey Mulligan
and American actor Leonardo DiCaprio, the Aussie director is bringing
onboard some Australian compatriots. "The newest addition to the cast
is model Gemma Ward, who will be playing the minor role of Catherine,”
reports Racked.com. "Catherine is the sister of Tom Buchanan’s
mistress Myrtle Fargate, who will be played by Isla Fisher.”
Coincidentally, Fisher also grew up in Ward’s hometown, Perth, Western
Australia. "This isn’t Gemma’s first foray into acting, she also
played a mermaid in the most recent ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ movie.”
Earlier this year, she also debuted in an Australian play ironically
titled "The Ugly One” and spoke openly about her relationship with the
late great Heath Ledger, who also hailed from Perth (and crossed paths
with Fisher on the Australian show "Home and Away”). That aside,
Racked.com has some romantic predictions for the ingénue saying "she
and renowned modelizer Leonardo would make a great couple.” Good luck,
Gemma!
