Everyone loves soup! To celebrate community and this soul-warming comfort classic, the High Line is weatherizing the concept of an ice-cream social in the form of the elevate park’s first-ever "soup social” later this month. The public space will host "a giant one-pot soup feast for hundreds of people,” reports Eater.com (which is also the event’s media sponsor). Planned for October 22 (when the weather will likely be more fall-ish than it is today), "there will be two 45 minute seatings—one at 1 p.m. and one at 1:45.” Presold tickets can be purchased online now for $5 a head. "The cost of entry gets visitors a big bowl of farro soup with spicy olive oil (created by Alice Waters-trained chef Mona Talbott), a hunk of bread, and a seat at the giant table for the first ever communal meal on the High Line.” Think of it as Thanksgiving’s rehearsal dinner with local wines, beer, and apple cider available at a cash bar.
