Art blogger Krisatomic recently turned us on to Flat Vernacular, a collaboration between artists, Payton Cosell Turner and Brian Kaspr. Flat Vernacular is a Brooklyn-based boutique wallpaper and design company that focuses in hand-drawn, hand-printed and bespoke creations. The duo works with sheets of stickers – the kind you may have collected in grade school – and fashions them into mesmerizing repeat patterns and one of a kind wallpapers. They also play with tradition, turning the standard toile pattern on its head by injecting it with rusty cars, and creating delicate watercolors featuring everyday objects like curling irons and marshmallow Peeps. The first introductory line of wallpapers are available for purchase through their site, but the much larger collection will be released on the site in May.
