Get ready for Six Flags on the Bowery: Starting on October 26, the New Museum will be doling out helmets and elbow pads for art lovers checking out the ambitious new installation from German artist Carsten Höller. According to the New York Times, "If all goes as planned, the five-year-old [museum] will become something of an amusement park with visitors hurtling through a giant plastic tube from the fourth floor to the second.” In the meanwhile, however, while the museum is toiling away on the building-wide extravaganza, patrons get an added treat, free admission through October 22 to see the lobby level exhibitions, including London-based artist Elizabeth Price’s "Choir” video project and German artist Isa Genzken’s "Rose II,” a sculpture standing 28 feet tall. So for now, a rose grows on the Bowery while a jungle gym takes root.
