It’s Whitney Lately these days: The one-time Chelsea Handler cohort "is two-for-two this TV season,” reports the Hollywood Reporter. Not only is Cummings exec producing and starring in NBC’s "Whitney,” but "CBS has given a full-season order to freshman comedy ‘2 Broke Girls,’ which counts stand-up comic Cummings among its executive producers.” The new show stars Beth Beers and Kat Dennings as 22-year-old waitresses working in the same diner with dreams of launching a cupcake business, we can only guess a la Magnolia Bakery which "Sex and the City” put on the national map. Co-created by Cummings and Sex and the City’s Michael Patrick King, "the multicamera comedy launched to 19.4 million viewers…following the heavily hyped Ashton Kutcher-fronted reboot of ‘Two and a Half Men.’” A show about cupcakes and a show starring Kelso back-to-back? Sounds like extra-guilty, TV-viewing pleasure for a Monday night—and an extra good reason to indulge in some cupcakes.
