The health and fitness blog reports that even a small amount, such a one glass every few days, could be mess with your diet goals. The reason? Not so much the calories from the vino itself per se, but the additional calories it makes you less vigilant about consuming post-drink. "Nutritionist Stephanie Middleberg says that you're most likely to fall guilty to overeating and food cravings if you drink before dinner.” To prevent over-indulging, she suggests ordering wine with dinner or having an after-dinner drink.
